Senior Pastor: Ruben Solis

Pastor Ruben Solis Calvary Chapel Inland

Pastor Ruben A. Solis; founder of Calvary Chapel Inland in the Riverside County community

Pastor Ruben and his wife Virginia Solis, have been serving the Lord for more than 30 years.  They raised four boys who are believers in Christ Jesus and have several grandchildren.  All his boys serve the Lord in different churches.

Pastor Ruben was saved on January 7, 1987 while working for Southern California Edison.  He was listening to a radio program where Greg Laurie of Harvest Christian Fellowship was speaking; this was on the radio station KBRT AM740.  The message was so convicting that it pierced the heart of Pastor Ruben and moved him to repentance.  He gave his life to the Lord right then and there; while in his company truck.  Never having experienced Christianity before, he became born again.  Pastor Ruben was born into Catholicism and had never set foot in a Christian church, so his experience with God was fresh and real.  He read through the Bible within six months.  He was baptized by the Lord; which is a funny story.  Dave Hocking happened to be teaching on baptism (on KBRT AM740) and Pastor Ruben knew he needed to be baptized.  It was a winter day and it was raining.  While working, he decided to step out of his truck and pray to the Lord that the Lord would baptize him in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.  And so it was that he was baptized in the rain by the Lord.

Pastor Ruben soon found a Calvary Chapel and began to serve the Lord there with his family.  He started by cleaning toilets, sweeping the grounds, and by just having an open heart for serving the Lord in any capacity that the Lord would have him to.  These were years of training within the ministry preparing hearts, the vision, and goals the Lord had for him.

Hi my name is Randy. I was born in El monte California. Like a lot of people we had struggles when we were younger. But the Lord had a plan for my life. Through God‘s grace I gave my life to the Lord in Victory Outreach Pomona. And through God‘s guidance he brought me to Calvary Chapel inland. The Lord blessed me with a beautiful wife. And a personal relationship with my Lord and Savior. And I pray that you too will also receive the Lord as your Savior and have a personal relationship too.

Hi everyone!

I didn’t grow up in the drug, alcohol, or gang lifestyle. In fact, my story is the complete opposite. My parents taught me to value education and to learn as much as I possibly could—and I did. At the time, I didn’t recognize what a blessing that was. I graduated high school with a 4.5 GPA and earned a full-ride scholarship to Cal State Long Beach to study Computer Engineering.

You would think that meant my life was on the right track. But once I started dictating my own life—without allowing God to be part of it—everything began to change. I became money-hungry and obsessed with becoming the next Bill Gates. Eventually, I dropped out of college to start my own business, and by the age of 20, I was living what I thought was the “rock star” lifestyle. I had money, lived in seven states, owned two exotic cars, and had many women. At one point, people were even asking for my autograph because of my public speaking, which inflated my ego even more. Life was all about me—my desires, my image, my success.

Looking back now, I’m ashamed of how selfish I was and how poorly I treated women and others. Many people believe money and fame bring happiness. I can tell you from experience—they don’t. I was miserable inside.

Then God’s grace met me in Dallas, Texas. At First Baptist of Dallas, a man named Daniel White was bold enough to share the Word of God with me and tell me I needed a real relationship with Him. He brought me to an all–African American First Baptist Church of Dallas, where I experienced genuine brotherly love from people I had never met. They welcomed me with open arms, and I didn’t understand why. The pastor’s message pierced my heart—it felt like he was speaking directly to my situation. When the altar call came, I walked forward, fell to my knees in tears, and asked Jesus into my heart.

I’ve stumbled many times since that day, but God’s grace and mercy have always lifted me back up. We serve a forgiving God who loves us even in our sin. He will never forsake us.

Today, God has blessed me with talents that I now use to glorify Him and serve His church. I’m humbled and honored to be a servant at Calvary Chapel Inland. I’m married with two beautiful children, and I stand in awe of what the Lord has done in my life once I finally put Him first.

Hey there church fam!

By God’s grace and mercy, I’m blessed beyond all measure to even be here. For most of my life, I was living for myself. Long story short. I suffered from depression because of the broken life I was living. I tried everything and had nowhere else to go. That’s when God finally got ahold of my heart and started putting those broken pieces back together the way they were intended to be. Through the process, I gained a personal relationship with Jesus my Lord and Savior. He has given me much more than just my life back. Jesus has blessed me with a beautiful wife and 5 precious kids and much more. I am unworthy of it all. But I am happy to be serving such an awesome God who was willing to forgive me and has given me the privilege to serve and share the good news. I am now living for Christ!
